You may experience the ‘Healing Crisis’. This is normal after a massage. It is the body’s natural inflammation response. However, if symptoms persist after 48 hours, speak to your GP.  Symptoms include:

  • Body aches and pains.
  • Headaches.
  • Fatigue.
  • Chills or sweats.
  • Nausea

You may also experience Erythema. This is a redness in the skin caused by an increase of blood in the areas massaged. Again, this is completely normal.

Drink Plenty of water.

Avoid alcohol and caffeine.

Avoid strenuous activities.

Shower prior to the massage and refrain from showering afterwards to allow the oils to absorb.

Avoid heavy meals before and after the massage.

Avoid perfume, aftershave and lotions prior to the massage.

Massage brings out a range of emotions; feeling emotional afterwards is completely normal.
